Multi-level Distributed Network Monitoring System

In the recent 10 years, electronic Commerce and paperless storage are putting into practice instead of traditional manual operation and paper storage. All the society depends on computer and computer network more and more. The safty of LAN comes to an important problem with the process of Computerization. More and more attention is paid into this field by both computer scientists and company managers in order to solve the problems. A lot of effort goes into the security of LAN. A lot of software is developed in the rencent 5 years in this field. As far as I know, most of the recent LAN monitor and management software is developed special for several security aspects but not in general. Most of them focus on monitor, but little focus on management. It's hard to find a suit of software offers integrated general solution for the monitor and management of LAN.This paper promotes MDMF (Multi-lay Distributed Monitor Framework) to solve the problems which puzzle people in the field of LAN safty. MDMF can improve the expansibility of the system, which enable the monitor system to combine several small distributed LAN into a big network on the logical level and manage them as a whole network. MDMF also improves the flexibility and covering scale of the monitor system.The architecture of the monitor system which based on MDMF is presented in this paper. The design and implement of monitor controller and database are presented later. This software can be deployed in large-scale and distributed. The expansibility, flexibility and low-cost of running are the advantages of this software. The test results indicate that the system satisfies the planning performence.The software which based on MDMF has been deployed in a company in Yunan province. The practice reflects the system's good performance.
