Wireless positioning, performed either in network or in mobile station, is to determine the geographic location of mobile station through the estimated time/angle measurements with the help of positioning algorithms. The researchers'passion on this field was stimulated by E-911 location regulation submitted by FCC in 1996 and promoted further by the inexhaustible commercial potential. Two main modules are required in an entire positioning process: One is the estimation of the location parameters , the other is the operation of the positioning algorithms. The time or angle information, which is indispensable for positioning, is got from the received signal through some parameter estimation algorithms and then used as the input of the positioning module to yield the location estimation. The primary difficulties lie in the estimating errors caused by the wireless fading channel, and the solution to the nonlinear equations which exhibit the geometric relation between the mobile station and the participant base stations. This dissertation studies some key technologies of wireless positioning system based on reading a number of literatures. In the aspect of positioning algorithm, I proposed a Taylor-based hybrid positioning method, and this method can attain high positioning resolution. In the research on NLOS(Non-Line of Sight)error mitigation, I compare the probability to mitigate the NLOS error probability effectively under different conditions, and it is of value in practical projects. For satellite positioning, some positioning algorithms are used in formation flying satellites system, and this can improve positioning performance in some degree. Some factors affecting satellite positioning resolution are analyzed. The dissertation is summarized in the last chapter. Finally, the future research work is pointed out.
