Recognition Key Technologies

Face Recognition Technology(FRT) is emerging as an active research area in the field of pattern recognition and artificial intelligence. It is a multi-subject cross issue concerning on image process and pattern recognition and physiology and psychology etc. As a biometric technology, FRT has numerous applications such as access control, law enforcement, e-commerce, video surveillance and so on. The complete Face Recognition system must include image input, Face Detection and Location, pretreatment, feature extraction and classification. Feature extraction is the core of recognition task, which directly impact on classification velocity and recognition ability. Three methods were analyzed and discussed, include: K_L translation and PCA method based on statistical representation feature; fisher method based on statistical discrimination feature; method based on Bayesian rule. the research of facial feature extraction and classification is done from the angle of statistical pattern recognition by this artical.Principal Component Analysis also called K_L translation is the typical method of image compress, which principally is the operation of matrix. The article introduces the implication of the Principal Component Analysis and the method of feature abstraction with Principal Component Analysis.Fisher linear Discriminant Analysis takes different apart best by minimizing within-class scatter matrix and maximizing between-class scatter matrix. But Fisher rule can't be directly introduced into the problem of face recognition for there exist a small sample problem. The method is discussed in this thesis: by applying KL transform on face data, we project faces into a PCA space and carry out Fisher rule in the space directly, combining with the Bayesian classification method. The procedure and the results of this experiment were given by this article.The Bayesian classification is the typical method to make policy, which make the probability least of false classification. The key problem using Bayesian method is to seek the condition probability and the prophetic probability. The article introduces the Bayesian basic method and study the method applied to the face recognition in detail, and provide a new face recognition method—combination of multi-characteristic based on Bayesian dicision.
