Passive millimeter-wave imaging is getting more and more attention in the field of millimeter-wave in recent years. As a result of the fact that this technology has many advantages in bad weather conditions such as fog,clouds and smoke, it has been utilized in a wide range of military and civil practical applications, such as remote sensing, blind landing, navigation and security scanning. However, there are still many shortcomings in present imaging system, such as the low spatial resolution and poor sensitivity. Additionally, it is difficult to improve the property of hardware in present system, thus the passive millimeter-wave image processing plays an indispensable role in the whole system.Based on the essential theory of passive millimeter-wave radiometric imaging, the passive millimeter-wave imaging system is introduced in this paper, and the imaging model is also presented here. Then the cause of degradation to passive millimeter-wave images is acquired and the methods of image restoration are studied in this paper. According to the fact that there are many reasons related to the degradation of passive images, a kind of passive millimeter-wave super-resolution image restoration algorithm, which is based on Genetic Algorithm and Fuzzy Mathematics, is proposed here after extensive study and comprehensive comparison. Furthermore, the scheme of the algorithm is put forward and a number of simulative experiments are carried out to verify the feasibility and efficiency of this algorithm. Finally, a passive millimeter-wave image is reconstructed with the proposed algorithm and the results are analyzed.
