Along with the development of wireless network applications and rapid increase of the wireless service, group of wireless network users will get great expension, which will cause Internet traffic increasing dramatically. Network congestion which offen appears in wired network seems to be a more and more critical issue in wireless network. Congestion control mechanisms in wireless network are very important in guaranteeing the stability of data transmission. Moreover, a suitable congestion control mechanism is also the basis for Internet Quality-of-Service (QoS) mechanisms to work effectively.TCP Protocol is the most widely used protocol in the Internet, which provides reliable, robust end-to-end data transmission service. And the congestion control mechanism in TCP is one of the key techniques to keep the Internet stable. But this mechanism can not be applied to wireless work because the bad link status, so in this thesis we state a Round Trip Time Based Congestion Control mechanism (RTTBC). The main research results are as follows:Deep research in traditional TCP congestion control, conclude the main advantage and defective of it, especially the Reno and TCP westwood. Also combine the conclusion with features of wireless network, find out the entrance of RTTBC research.State a RTT based Slow-start mechanism. This modified slow-start mechanism increases the slow-start speed and extend the congestion avoidance time according to the wireless network status.Make judgement of packet loss type and figure out the network status through the product of min RTT and estimated bandwidth. Based on this judgement, state a recovery mechanism to deal with different packet loss.Modify the bandwidth estimation algorithm to make it more accurate. Also do some research on the fairness performance between RTTBC and other exsiting congestion control mechanism...
