Beamforming is the core of underwater targets estimation. Show research to auto-adaptive Beamforming is very important. The auto-adaptive receiving array can not only control itself to gain the signal, but also confirm the direction of the signal with the existence of noise, make the interfere of signal minimum, and strengthen the useful signal.This dissertation shows research in some basically methods of beamforming and the main research work of which is organized as follows: firstly, show research to the conventional beamforming. Secondly, study of the auto-adaptive beamforming. At the same time, has carried on the computer simulation and analyzed capability of the above two methods. Lastly, put the eigenvector technology and innertube decomposition technology into MVDR auto-adaptive method to improve the capability, enables its to have the very high position estimate precision and the good beam forming effect in the wideband signal situation. This article while obtains the improvement MVDR method, carries on system's simulation to it, and has made the massive analysis to its performance.To put the auto-adapted beam forming algorithm in use is the most basic goal actually. This article through uses the improvement MVDR algorithm to carry on processing to the tank experiment data, the desk studied application of the auto-adapted beam forming algorithm in the underwater sound environment, and obtained some conclusions of DOA estimation by using conventional method and auto-adaptive method in underwater environment, finally had pointed out the further studies place.
