On The Virtual Crowd

Many people join together, as if there is a certain potential. The crowd this paper studies refers to the narrow crowd with some particular potential. Just like Gustave In Bon the author of《Psychologie des Foules》said in 1895, the crowd is "blind, enthusiastic, complex and dynamic" , but " no matter how the society be organized in the future, it must take into account a new and supreme power, that is the strength of the crowd. "Undoubtedly, virtual, the most notable characteristics of new media, is making more and more people together in the new environment, and the strength of aggregation is not illusory. The development of new media will bring more people into this environment that has not yet been fully institutionalized. This study is to explore these people - Virtual crowd.However, the study of crowd at home and abroad is not the mainstream idea, and it is the first time to propose the concept of virtual crowd. There are many domestic researches on virtual communities and the dissemination of Internet users, but researches on specific virtual crowd have never gotten academic and systematic standardization. Different from some outstanding sociological researches, the paper is not committed to finding whether the space network has a social nature, or analyzing the specific and detailed relations between network interaction and true interaction. This research tries to explore such issues——when virtual crowd (particularly violent virtual crowd)make large and even alarming forces, what is the force strength actually? How virtual crowd assembled? what extent such forces can be developed to and what effect can be made on the society? Now what methods could lead or control this force?This study puts virtual crowd study in the background of modern and contemporary Chinese culture with the precipitation of culture, the national history and the integration of the West -virtual crowd study actually involve everything, and maybe the deep-seated problems of civilization. This paper is committed to discuss a concept that always overlooked by media culture study—exchange-transaction-communication of social anthropology. In fact, when we study the formation of virtual crowd, we also study the significance of superposition, transformation and bias that symbols create between different forms of media .In the study, some of the elements could be the material with that we question the dominant cultural patterns and prejudice. At the same time, China should establish some management criteria to make management direction, considering the impact on human,culture and society from the perspective of communication.
