Classic exams are based on the test mode of Classical True Score Theory, while adaptive test systems are based on the test mode of Item Response Theory. The core of adaptive systems is to test the ability of test participators, reflect the teaching mode of differential treatment into the test mode of differential test. Thus, the ability of test participators can be mined fully, test participators can be set free from traditional test systems, and the enthusiasm for tests of the participators can be increased. It is the hot point concerned by our society and the study emphasize of this thesis how to take advantage of the adaptive test theory in education and how to turn this theory into reality so as to reduce the workload of teachers and external interruption, achieve the test justice, and turn tests into real ability examinations.Logistic modes of single-argument, double-argument, and three-argument are studied in this thesis. Based on the three-argument mode (i.e.: a(Discrimination), b(Difficulty), c(Coefficient)), the setting method and domain of the argument of a, b, and c, and the estimation method of the ability valueθof test participators are introduced in detail in this thesis. By referring to the three-argument mode, the design process of adaptive test systems based on Item Response Theory are introduced from three aspects of system administrators, teachers, and students, including question database creation, project requirement analysis, schema design and detail design. The question database creation and the test participating process of students are introduced especially. The system is implemented in the environment of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server2000. The system consists of modules for students' test registration, test participation, mark searching, and test paper reviewing, and modules for teachers' question maintenance, question checking of experts, teachers' test organization, test paper management, grade management, searching, and printing, etc, and modules for administrators' maintenance. The characteristic of the system is to put single-choice question, multiple-choice question, and judge question into one category of choice questions. Thus, the design complexity is reduced. Meanwhile, questions are stored separately from their answers so that the design complexity of question database is reduced as well. On the other hand, to add graphic processing into questions meets the needs of more test types. The security, stability, extendibility, easy-maintenance of .Net construction and the hierarchy design method of B/S mode are fully taken advantage. To enclose the related data operation into interfaces is beneficial to the design, maintenance, and extending of the system. After detail testing, modifying, and completing, the system is practical since it is equipped with objective functionalities, user friendly interfaces and high efficiency.
