Smart antenna technology for TD-SCDMA system is to reduce the total access interference, improve spectrum utilization, increase system capacity, reduce launching power and space electromagnetic interference, and divide dynamically the areas and so on. Compared with oher technologys in the mobile communication it shows great potential.The main researches of this dissertation are some algorithms for the estimation of direction of the signal's arrival which are the critical technology of Smart Antenna.DOA estimation is one of the important research areas of array signal processing, which is found wide applications in a variety of fields ranging from radar, communication and sonar to seismology. Especially, they play an essential role in the passive detection of emerging array radar and SDMA (Space Division Multiple Access) of smart antenna system. Since their introduction at early 1980s, high-resolution DOA estimation techniques have long been of great research interest and many significant progresses have been made in this field. This thesis focuses on the general DOA estimation algorithms and their generalizations.In this thesis, we firstly establish the data model for DOA estimation; introduce the classical used DOA estimation algorithms; analyse the feature and theory derivation of Delay-add, Capon, MUSIC and ESPRIT algorithms; compare their performance and algorithm complexity through computer simulations.Considering that the smart antenna of TD-SCDMA is eight elements of uniform circular array(UCA), of which array manifold is not Vandermonde,then classical algorithm can't direct be used to estimate direction of angle(DOA).The smart antenna of TD-SCDMA is preprocessed so that classical algorithm can be used to the estimation of DOA based on TD-SCDMA. And research on the performance affection when the distance of antenna, the system sample number, and the number of antenna array elements, and signal to noise ratio are variance.Evaluation the hardware performance of the algorithms through the fixed point simulation. Then by the theoretical deduction, a reliable method is used to solve a complex Hermite matrix, and based on MSC8144 develop and optimize the DOA algorithm.Finally, this thesis briefly presents the td-scdma uplink test plan and environment, and analyse the test result.
