Electromagnetic Tomography (EMT), which developed since the early 1990's, is a novel Process Tomography (PT) technique. It has many potential applications in industrial fields, such as mineral processing, foreign body detection in food processing and three-phase flow measurement in sea oil field. Nowadays, EMT technique is still on developingForward problem and inverse problem were two main research aspects of EMT technique. In this paper, the solutions of the two problems were studied on the basis of the fundamentals of TEMT- II system, which was developed by the PT Lab of Tianjin University, and some achievements have been made as follows.(1)This thesis introduced the image reconstruction algorithm of Electrical Tomography technique, and has a specialty analysis for the main algorithm of EMT such as Linear back projection algorithm based on the coefficients of sensitivity, Tikhonov regularization, Landweber iteration algorithm and Newton-Raphson algorithm for EMT. And it has a comparison in the image reconstruction effect for the algorithms above.(2)The finite element method (FEM) was used to solved the EMT forward problem numerically, the digitized solution to the EMT forward problem using finite element method (FEM) was conduced. And finite element division is used in discretization of the mathematical integral equations which is transformed to a matrix equation ultimately.(3)In the process of the image reconstruction, a new kind of image reconstruction algorithm is proposed based on the differential equations and Finite Element Method. And this paper expounds the theory and the approach of the image reconstruction of EMT based on the Finite Element Method. Besides, this paper has the simulation experiment for the image reconstruction of EMT based on the Finite Element Method coupled with the analysis of the simulation experimental results of image reconstruction. Finally, suggestion for further improvement for the simulation study of the EMT was given in the last part.
