With the maturity of wireless communication technology, its application in industrial control networks will be realized in large areas. WICN (Wireless Industrial Control Networks) has been developed at this background. With the development of information and network technology, WICN technology will be shining in the field of industrial control. This dissertation points out the existing problem of wireless communication technology application in the industrial control networks. A three-layer protocol system construction has been established after analyzing the MAC protocol of the traditional Wireless Networks technology. The token-based MAC protocol which fulfils the requirements of real time and robust has been proposed, the frame format and the operating mechanism of the protocol are both defined.A simulation trial has been implemented to compare the token-based protocol with the CSMA/CA protocol by the use of OMNeT++ concrete event simulation platform. The performance of the protocol has been tested and the result of the simulation has been analyzed. Afterward, the WICN protocol has been realized by use of the wireless sensor networks node GAINS (Global Actable Intelligent Networks) which developed by Institute of Computer Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the SNAMP (Wireless Sensor Networks analyze and manage platform) has been extended to monitor the running of the WICN protocol. The study on wireless industrial control networks is an open subject, and it integrates with application closely. In this dissertation, the proposed protocol is still imperfect in some aspects, such as problems of multi-hop and route, so it needs to be consummated in the next stage.
