The electrical scanning antenna is playing an important rolein radar, fuze and missile's warhead. The 8mm-band electrical scanning antenna is a part of millimeter tracking systems, and the tracking system's properties are related to the antenna. Based on a 8mm-band fuze, this paper research a novel 8ram-band electrical scanning antenna.This paper introduced an electrical Scanning antenna first, and explains the background, the components, and the design ideas. Then the paper researched the cores of the antenna: a phase shifter and a multi-mode feed. In the multi-mode feed research, the paper design a multi-mode waveguide which is fit for desire, and got machining drawings; in the phase shifter research, the paper study the core of electronic control shifter: a loaded-line phase shifter loaded with a PIN diode. Under the special structure of the multi-mode feed, this paper designed a structure for the PIN diode biasing circuits and loading. In the design of passive structures, the paper used the HFSS to identify mechanical dimension.The antenna discussed by this paper is simple, novel and low cost. Integrate with the angle scan technology and the modern phase shift technology, the paper provide a novel feed system for millimeter radar or fuze, and make a new way to improve old radar systems.
