Synthetic Aperture Radar has widely application in military and civilianarea and it has been becoming a symbol reflecting military and national power. As a complex electronic system, it needs detailed debug and testing. Using thefriendly interface of PC and automation testing would greatly improve theefficiency. At first, we summarized the basic concept, the current development of SAR;introduced the desired functions of simulation apparatus of satellite; discussedthe hardware and software of the simulation apparatus. Regarding the hardwarepart, this paper introduced the characters of the platform based on ARMmicro-processor S3C2440A, the design of PCB and the debugging method ofSDRAM and FLASH in detail. Regarding the software part, we listed the flow ofthe UART communication program. And then, we bring forward a new method of writing executable file intofirmware based on the ICE, which not needing JTAG board. At last, wediscussed the organic parts of Embedded Linux system, Boot loader, OperationSystem and file system. Regarding Boot loader, we analyze the process of U-Bootin-depth; gathered up the main characters of U-Boot; particularly introducedthe porting highlights to the platform based on S3C2440A; and especiallypointed out the usage of tool mkimage. Regarding the OS Kernel, we clearlypresented the start-up parameter selection on our platform; described theprocess of start-up of Linux Kernel. Regarding the file system, we particularlydiscussed the making flow of RAM disk file system and the BusyBox init scriptfile.Currently, the simulation apparatus of satellite is in using and the portedLinux OS works steadily in the supervision and control system.
