The research achievements of optic-fiber current sensors (OFCS) during the last few years are particularly surveyed in this paper. The nubby material fiber-optic current sensor is deeply studied and the complete system theory model has been established. A sensing head of cuboidal material optic-fiber current sensor was developed in this thesis.The factors which affect the system measuring precision are comprehensively analyzed and simulated. Some rules which influence the system precision are acquired. The sensor's electronic circuit was designed. The correlative experiment research is carried out with this system.At the beginning of the thesis, the complete sensor optical system theory model is established based on the jones's analytical method. Design the sensing head of OFCS, the rules of all the pivotal factors to system response are analyzed. The effects of each factor in the model on measuring precision are simulated and the curves and the typical error data which represent the effecting rules are theoretically acquired. Secondly, the circuit of OFCS was designed. The laser driver circuit, the amplification-filter circuit, the signal processing circuit are designed.Finally, the correlative experiment is carried out with the system. At different charging voltage, the alternating current and the short pulse current were measured. The curves of relation between response and the current measured is acquired based on the experiment data. It agreed well with the measured result of Rogowski coils. The performance parameters of OFCS have been acquired from the tests. The performance parameters meet the requirements of design.
