VoIP, which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, is the IP voice and speech technology. Its basic idea is to realize voice and speech business though transmitting IP packet. The most outstanding advantage of VoIP is capable of utilizing the world Internet networking to provide IP telephone service, which provides more and better value-added services than traditional telephone business. With the development of Internet and the multimedia communication technology, the traditional Tele-service is closely integrated with Internet service.IP phone is becoming one of the most rapidly developing application technologies. The service in the NGN needs the new signal control protocol superior to H.323. TheSIP protocols are simple, flexible and easily to expand. It is accounted to the important signal technology in the NGN.SIP is an application-layer control (signaling) protocol proposed by IETF for creating, modify and terminating session. The structure of the VOIP system and the relative technologies including audio coding/decoding and signal control technologies are discussed in this article. The SIP stack's syntax, entity and communication between the two entities are described too.Built upon the Project Designing VoIP Terminal Based on ColdFire Platform, this paper designs speech processing module and successfully applied this solution on target platform. The speech processing module includes speech compression, voice activity detection and echo cancellation module, which improve speech quality. The author has finished the implementation of VoIP speech processing module on Freescale MCF5235 chip with qualified parameters and this module works well.
