Nowadays for the physical layer's interface index testing of xDSL and its splitter, there are. many immature and unstable testing methods. Most of the testing methods are like this: the testing engineer use test equipments with some fragmentary circuit boards and get the tested results manually. It is slow to do it manually and it is worth wondering for the preciseness of the testing results. On the condition that the testing task is very urgent, it must be very difficult for the testing engineer to complete testing the interface index in due time .However, by using automatic testing methods to speed up the testing is a reasonable method.This paper introduces an automatic testing method by analyzing the current situation of the physical layer's interface index testing of xDSL and its splitter. After analyzing current testing methods, we can discover that many parts really need improving and many problems can be solved by using automatic testing methods.This paper firstly give a resumptive discussion about xDSL physical layer's testing and introduces different xDSL technologies and its testing requests individually.Then it analyses the current testing methods and testing examples and initially gives an integrated and automatic test-designing method at the same time. After that ,by cleaning up all of the initial design methods, it gives an integrated and automatic system-level design method.By discussing a circuit board tool which has realize the testing of all the interface index, it introduces an automatic and integrated test-solving method. The design part of this test-tool board mainly discuss the circuit board's system high-level design, board-level design, component and chip's selection design, circuit board's software design PCB design, etc.The main function of this circuit board is realizing the automatic testing of interface index, covering the very most of circuits of interface index testing and realizing the automatic testing of interface index mostly. However, realizing automatic testing doesn't mean that this method can replace the traditional manual testing method. Only after the board has been tested in contrast with the former testing method and prove that the tested data using the board is more reliable than the manually tested data, it can be concluded that this board has realized the automatic testing function really and in contrast with manual testing it has the advantage of efficient , reliable and precise testing.After verifying the functions of this board in practice and the contrasting testing with the traditional testing methods, it proves that this tool not only can get precise testing results but also can speed up the testing obviously and decrease many complicated testing steps in manual testing. After being used by testing engineer in practice, it was given high appraisement.
