Fiber Optic Gyro has become mainstream instrument in the inertial technology field, which is different from the traditional electromechanical instruments in its principle and key technology. There are many advantages such as high reliability, longevity, quick-reaction, wide dynamic range. FOG has been used in practice abroad, but still researched in our country. This paper discusses the important problems faced in the FOG engineering. The modeling of FOG is an important basic work, which is significant to computer imitation, performance evaluation and structure improving. This paper develops the nonlinear dynamic model and the stochastic model based on the structure of FOG.To minimize or eliminate error is an important task to improve the performance of FOG. This paper focuses on the effect of temperature and vibration error. Compared with other kinds of gyro, FOG has born ability to restrict vibration, but its performance is still affected by vibration. This paper discusses the discipline of FOG vibration characteristic in mechanical vibration theory and vibration modulation on waveguide.Temperature drift error of FOG is an important factor which restrict the performance improving. This paper analyzes temperature characteristic of optical components by experiment and theoretically researches the thermal induced non-reciprocal phase noise, and derives temperature error model for the fiber sensing coil under different manufacture methods.This paper improves the optical structure of FOG based on the floating zero theory and designs the special electrocircuit. This method can efficiently restrain the temperature effect on lamp-house and photodetector through the symmetry of components, which solves the difficulty to find random walk model. It also can restrain the vibration error. finally, This paper designs a comprehensive compensation based on the combination of software and hardware about temperature error.
