This dissertation mainly studies several pivotal technologies in a target detection and location system based on infrared image which is the application background, including infrared imaging system calibration, target detection and target location The main work can be summarized as follows:1. The thermal radiation theory and an infrared imaging system's working principle are introduced. Then the factors affecting infrared image of the target and background are analyzed. Infrared images of persons and backgrounds under different conditions such as different time, different seasons, different states, are captured by open-door experiments.2. Considering that infrared images have the characters of low contrast and shortage of details, a new method is proposed in order to obtain the longitude, the latitude and the altitude of the target in a infrared image. In this method the pin-pole imaging model is used as the infrared imaging system model , small thermal bodies are chose to be the calibration points, the WGS-84 reference frame is used as the world reference frame, and NEU reference frame is imported. The method consists of two steps. First, the extern parameters are gained by means of using active vision for reference to rotate the infrared imaging system around its light-center. Second, the world coordinates of these calibration points are measured by a GPS receiver, and interior parameters are obtained by way of least squares estimation using the pixels coordinates and the world coordinates. Experiment shows that this new method with low cost is high precise and suitable for practical application.3. The principles and performances of common correlation filters are briefly analyzed. Then the designing method of the quadratic correlation filter is particularly introduced and target detection is accomplished by using this filter.
