MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network ) is a wireless, self-organizing system formed by co-operating nodes. This multi-hop network with dynamic topology will be widely used in future. The architectures and existent problems of Ad Hoc networks are presented. The efficiency of a communication network depends not only on its control protocols, but also on its topology. Several typical clustering algorithms in Ad Hoc network are discussed and a new simulation program of all these algorithms has been developed by using Delphi.Besides, this thesis studies framework, minimal connected dominating sets(MCDS) algorithms.The performance of the MCDS is proved by theoretical analysis and simulation, which show that the MCDS algorithm works well especially in dense environment. To deal with a series of problems, which are caused by infrastructure layering in wireless node, a mobile agent based open framework for wireless ad hoc networks is proposed with the help of mobile agent and active networking technologies. Finally, this paper also analyze the performance of different clustering algorithms based on the out-put data,and the existing problem and current development of TCP performance in wireless ad hoc networks was introduced.
