Millimeter-wave solid-state power amplifiers is the key component of millimeter-wave solid-state system. Its design is the difficulty of millimeter-wave solid-state integrated circuit. In this thesis, Ka-band power combining is studied and two single-way and a power combing amplifers with high gain and broad bandwidth are designed. The main results is as follows:Two single-way continue-wave amplifers are designed and implemented. The input and output port is standard BJ320 waveguide. The measured saturated output power of the Ka-band 1W amplifier is exceeded 30dBm in the frequency range of 30GHz-36GHz and greater than 1.6W in the frequency range of 31GHz-35GHz.The best output is 2.1W at 33GHz.The small signal gain is greater than 36dB. The measured saturated output power of the Ka-band 2W amplifier is greater than 2W in the frequency range of 33GHz-36GHz,which reach to a high level of 3.3W in the frequency range of 32GHz-33GHz.The small signal gain exceeds 50dB.A Ka-band two-way continue-wave power-combining amplifers are designed and implemented. Beause the loss of microstrip is serious in millimeter-wave band, how to minimize the length of microstrip behind amplifer and design low-loss power divider with balanced power division is the key. Serval kind two-way power dividers are analyzed theoretically and simulated by 3-D field simulation tools. A waveguide-microstrip double probes combiner is chose to be power combiner. It is used not only for its low loss and balanced power division but also for its decrease of the length of microstrip behind the amplifier. The measured saturated output power of 4W amplifier is greater than 4.2W in the frequency range of 31GHz-37GHz, greater than 4.8W in the frequency range of 31GHz-36GHz, greater than 5.8W in the frequency range of 31GHz-33GHz.The amplifer shows the highest power of 7.3W at 32GHz.The best effiency is 90.2%at 36GHz and two-way average combining efficiency is approximated to be 82.8%in 33GHz-36GHz.The input and output interface is also standard BJ320 waveguide.
