| Infrared target recognition system is one of key units in the infrared image guidance weapon. It's urgent to research and develop a smaller, lighter and more adaptable infrared target recognition system. After studying recent domestic and international research work, this paper designed an infrared target recognition system, and developed a recognition arithmetics, described as follows:1. The design of hardware of Infrared target recognition system. After analyzing and comparing some current schemes, we combine the Altera's FPGA chip EP2S60 of StratixII series as a central controller and ADI's DSP chip TS201 of TigerSHARC series as target recogntion together, to build a FPGA+DSP hardware system. This system simultaneously has abundant programmable logic resources, I/O interfaces and the strong ability on data operation and processing. Morever, it provides a possibility for decreasing physical volume and weights of the system, and it increases the flexibility for design.2. The design of the central controller based on FPGA. Firstly, median filter was employed for the raw infrared image signal in the central controller to improve the S/N ratio. Secondly, according to the communication protocol of LINKPORT, the filtered infrared image was transmited into DSP by the central controller to finish the target reconization. Recognized image was transmits back into the central controller, then the image was sent to ADV7179 to encode, and then to display. Meanwhile, video character is overlapped onto the monitor for easy observation and operation. Of course it includes I2C driver of ADV7179. Additionally according to the request of system's design, it also includes master machine communication interface and the storage of parameter in EEPROM.3. Arithmetics simulation of the infrared target recognition. The characteristics of the infrared image were analyzed, including noise, background and target under low SNR in detail. An arithmetic for pre-process, edge distilling and edge fining of image and target recognition based on Zernike Moments for infrared image was developed and was simulated in Matlab. This arithmatics was successfully transplanted onto the hardware in this system. The measurement results indicate that the developed infrared target reconization system have successfully recognized the representative infrared target quickly. And this system has some advantages such as reliable performance, small volume and low power consumption. In conclusion, it basically meets the requirements of guidance weapon system. |
