The thesis is focused on the study of Electro-optical Navigation based on DSP, including the design of the hardware platform and algorithm software module for moving object detection and tracking.An Electro-optical Navigation system based on DSP is studied by the ASIST system produced by ITI company in Canada. This paper adopts the TMS320C6416 DPS produced by TI company as the primary control chip to design a hardware platform and the debugging result are gained. The object recognition and tracking are task-dependent. According to different application, the corresponding algorithm will be selected. In the thesis, the advantage and shortcoming of some algorithms of object recognition and tracking field are analyzed and compared firstly, and according to the characteristic of video images and requirements of real-time for the system., the method of gate-tracking is established as the object tracking algorithm. Most software module programs are compiled with the language C, and the experiment records are analyzed as well. The system resolves the problems of image pre-procession, image segmentation, area tagging, object recognition, object segmentation precisely and centroid tracking.We can see from the experiment result and data throughout the paper, that object can be exactly and timely detected and tracked by the Electro-optical Navigation system under the specified case and it can attain on the expected effect basically.
