This dissertation is originated from the laboratory construction sub-project of "Multimode MERS (Marine Engine Room Simulation)", which is the key project invested by the ministry of communications. A hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation model composed of MEPCS (Main Engine Pneumatic Control System) and a simulative propeller are built in this sub-project, and the system can not only cooperate with the SMSC-2000 MERS, but also operate real-time simulation as a single system. This sub-project has been applied in Tianjin University of Technology, Zhejiang Vocational and Technical Institute of Transportation and several Navigation Training Centers. During my postgraduate terms, I took part in the study of the hardware-in-the-loop M/E (main engine) simulation system and the fault simulation of the MEPCS components. An online closed-loop simulation system of the project is composed of industrial control computer, MEPCS system, electronic velocity regulation system, central control console, W/H control console and so on. One of the most important tasks of this project is to establish the mathematical model of the diesel main engine. Varieties of dynamic modeling methods of the transient characteristics of diesel engines are reviewed and analyzed in this dissertation, so that the mathematical model, PID control model and stormy waves turbulence model are proposed based upon the Quasi-Steady State Method combined with Modularization Method. MATLAB/Simulink is used to establish the diesel M/E model, and then the model is checked so as to be modified and improved according to the characteristics curve of the real ship.PC type industrial control computer is commonly adopted as simulation computer in ship simulation system, but PC type industrial control computer is subject to real-time performance and precision. For this reason, essential study on upgrading the technology of the simulation platform was carried on in our key laboratory of the ministry of communications two years ago, an ARM+DSP embedded simulation platform was brought out and μC/OS-II was ported to this system. Presently, integrated evaluation and test is performed on the ARM+DSP dual-core embedded simulation system developed by our university in order to...
