The Ultra-high Pixel Panoramic Ring Imaging Studies

Different from traditional lens Panoramic Annular Lens is a new type of lens through which we get an Omni-directional vision. Due to its unique characteristics, the panoramic image we acquired looks like a ring. It's very important for us to correct the image using correct some given method.The research base -ultra-high pixel panoramic imaging system is the further expansion on the existing research. Our research target has switch from a single cylinder detection of endoscope to three-dimensional field supervising. More than real-time working, the system will achieve the realization of a high-resolution, 22M. So we must choose an accurate and rapid algorithm to make the ring image match the general field of view.The dissertation can be divided into four parts. Firstly the imaging characteristic of panoramic annular lens is described. Then the panoramic images are collected from the imaging system. Secondly, the basic principle of image enhancement is introduced, and the corresponding enhancement of panoramic image is finished. Thirdly, a new distance-independent algorithm was introduced according to the imaging characteristic of panoramic annular lens after generalizing the existing algorithm. Fourthly, a new method of fixing the center of circle and the software designation of the whole algorithm is presented. Further more, we use a correction chart to achieve the rapid panoramic annular image correction, and reduce the calculation which is much complex than before. Practice has proved that looking up the correction chart is very efficient in the reduction of calculation. At the end of the dissertation, it summarizes the content of the whole system, and also discusses the shortage of the article for future improvement.
