Modern Society, The Freedom Of The Press And Public Opinion Guidance

Freedom of the press is widely considered as a fundamental citizenship right in the modern society. However, with the development of its technology, media has greater and greater impact on all levels of the society. The expanding of the freedom right of media brings new problems for efficient control of modern society, especially for china which is in the transition of society. Beginning with the concepts of press freedom and public opinion, this dissertation discusses how to implement press freedom, protect the citizen right of publishing and keep society stabilization by controlling consensus effectively in the modern society while press freedom is deeply rooted in one's heart.Firstly, this paper analyzes the concept of press freedom at the angle of attributes, meanings, extension, history and existing values of rights. Then, from the view of the concept and effects of consensus it analyzes the great impact of public opinion on the modern society, and points that public opinion is an important means to control society and keep stabilization. After that, from the point of the relationship between press freedom and public opinion, the paper discusses the approaches and effects of media public opinion and how to implement public opinion and control society efficiently with the limitation of law while keeping press freedom. By analyzing the conflicts among press freedom, other citizen rights and national interests, an approach to limit press freedom by law is put forward. Finally, through analyzing the status of press freedom in China, the national press management and its pitfalls, this paper puts forward own opinions.With the accelerating of global generalization, media will become more and more open. Therefore we have to abandon the traditional management of media and learn how to implement public opinion efficiently with the press freedom in order to control and keep stabilization of the society.
