The industry of testing is an important tache of the whole electron domain. And the development of automatic test equipment (ATE) is the emphasis of the industry of testing. So it's always a very austere problem for the CAT engineers to research the more efficient and advanced test system. Based on the National Eighth-Five Year Sci-Tech Program Large Scale Test System, we have done some extended research, which aimed at the application of the system in the market. In the thesis, we construct a testing system with new structure. Using this system, different types of IC can be tested concurrently. The new system takes in the sophisticated technology of computer and network, which give it excellent performance and hopeful future. The architecture and organization will affect not only the cost of the ATE, but the efficiency of test as well. So this thesis start with the analysis of the architecture of some traditional ATEs. And then point the shortage of them when applying to market. Based on this analysis, we bring forward the idea of parallel testing of different types of ICs. With this idea we develop a new-style testing system. The architecture of the system is two-level distributed intelligent structure, which seems like the structure of Client/Server. There is a host computer acting as the server of the system. And a few heterogeneous subordinative testers connect with the server through typical interfaces. Every subordinative tester has its own processor, so it can test ICs independently. Under the Server's Control, all the testers can do real-time testing in parallel. In the new system, data processing and the real-time testing control are divided. Data processing is performed by the server, and the latter is done by the testers. This working mechanism not only gives the system efficiency, but also reduces the cost of the system through making all testers share the resource of the server. The thesis continues with the introduction of the hardware and software of the system. It first analyzes the modularity of the system, which is implemented by the modularity of both the hardware and software. Modularity effectively supports the heterogeneity of the system. And after the introduction of the main structure, the thesis analyzes the LOC(Lines of Communication) of the system, which influence...
