Sensor network, which is made by the convergence of sensor, nested computation techniques, networks and wireless communications techniques, is a novel technology about acquiring and processing information. This paper talk about node location and the wireless communication in the wireless sensor networks.Wireless Sensor Networks, a novel technology about acquiring and processing information, have been proposed for a multitude of diverse applications. The problem of self-localization, that is, determining where a given node is physically or relatively located in the networks, is a challenging one, and yet extremely crucial for many applications. This paper introduces the self-localization mechanism and some algorithms for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Moreover, it analyzes and compares the range-based and range-free localization algorithms. It thinks that node location is a key technology for WSN and the information about node location is indispensable to many applications of WSM . Existing node location technologies are the primary research achievements, which are far frOm the goal of the whole WSN optimization. Therefore, further research and development of more high-efficient algorithms is necessary for popularization of WSN applications. There are many ways to establish WSN such as Bluetooth, HomeRF, UWB and RF. By comparison and analysis and according to the characteristics of WSN, a project based on the Radio Frequency(RF)is presented.Based on the summaries and conclusions of all research works, some suggestions and prospects for further researches are put forward.
