FIR digital filter has been widely used, so scholars and engineers have been paying more attention to its optimal design.The genetic algorithm is a kind of searching method which simulates the natural evolution. It is simple and easy to implement, especially it do not need the special field knowledge, so it has been using in very broad fields. Now the genetic algorithm has got a lot of fruits and more scholars begin to pay attention to it.This thesis is based on the theory of genetic algorithm, and genetic algorithm is applied for the optimal design of FIR digital filter. To given technology parameters, some examples of applying genetic algorithm have been done, and get better design effect.First, the basic principle of genetic algorithm is introduced, also its application and basic operation method are mentioned.Second, the genetic algorithm is used to design FIR filter based on the frequency sampling method and criterion of weight least mean square, according to the difference of question, the different encoding mode is used.Finally, some examples of FIR filter design based on genetic algorithm are given, and proved the efficiency of genetic algorithm.
