The dissertation is aimed at the theory and practical application of photoconductive semiconductor switches(PCSS),which is the kernel of UWB photoconductive pulse source.In chapter 1,after introducing the background of the dissertation,the development of UWB photoconductive pulse source is briefly reviewed.At the same time,the main work and contribution is generalized.In chapter 2, the PCSS are manufactured and two technics are introduced.The practical flow is given.Meanwhile the linear operational mode and nonlinear operational mode of PCSS are analyzedIn chapter 3, after simulating time-space distribution of electron and hole in photoconductor,the relations of laser energy,laser character and photoconduction are analyzed and the fundamental principles of nonlinear phenomenon is introduced. At the same time the effection of some important recombinations are discussed and the relation of photoconduction versus time is given.In chapter 4, Auston circuit, blumlein pulse forming line, multiplier of pulse forming line are introduced and give their differentiates. The experiment system is set up,then the PCSS samples are tested.In chapter 5, the character of ultra-short electrical pulse in microtrip is analized.After given the condition of waveform distortion,dispersion and loss of microtrip are analized.The character of coaxial cable is discussed in the end.In chapter 6,the summary of the whole dissertation is given and the future development is prospected.
