Synthetic Aperture radar (SAR) is one of the most advanced imaging sensors. Spotlight synthetic aperture radar can efficiently obtain an image with very high azimuth resolution, since its antenna illuminate the fixed target on the ground . Bistatic radar is not a new concept and its fundamental principles have been known and demonstrated many years before the development of operational monostatic radar . In 1970's American began to study Bi-SAR, and obtained the SAR image of moving tank in the jungle. Since then bistatic radars have been rediscovered several times, mainly for military applications like precise target location or receiver camouflage. Bastatic Spotlight-model SAR succeeds the advantage of common bastatic radar system, meanwhile it can obtain high azimuth resolution, and so it is worth researching.(1). Here we build the system space geometry model: the transmitter and receiver fly on different platforms and at different height, two flight paths are unparallel. based on the chirp signal and the Taylor series, we analyze the range history and synthetic aperture time, Then demonstrate the equation of the azimuth resolution about Air-born bistatic spotlight synthetic aperture radar, meanwhile we obtain the equations of Doppler bandwidth and Doppler Frequency modulate rate.(2). The disquisition review the system of bistatic radar and signal models and expatiate the classic algorithm of Bi-SAR in detail. Meanwhile introduce the algorithm of monostatic spotlight SAR, then deeply discuss the theory of Bastatic Spotlight-model SAR.(3). The disquisition especially introduces the algorithm of PFA, analyzes the means of Dechirps and removing RVP, discusses the Range Migration .At last discusses the influence to the image forming performance. Through simulation, validate the efficiency of the Polar Format Algorithm, in case of Bastatic Spotlight-model SAR.
