Having the characteristics of high data band and low time delay, optical switch technology is considered as a technology for the next generation network. As a technology which is feasible in current technical condition, OBS (Optical Burst Switching) combines advantages of many other optical switching technologies. It is also considered as one of the fastest-developing key technologies in the field of optical switching. However, most of the researches about OBS are just theoretical. There are no complete application and full description about OBS which is especially lack of implement yet. On the base of the study over the whole experiment system of OBS, this paper mainly deals with three aspects. The first is the influence of OBS to the traffic flow; the second is the influence of traffic flow to performance of OBS; the third is research and experiment of the hardware evaluation system of OBS.First, on the base of research on traffic flow on the INTERNET and the Ethernet environment, the traffic model in OBS simulation system has been taken into account. Not only the short range dependence traffic but also the self-similarity traffic is discussed. The simulation model built can chose different traffic sources and change the switch structure easily. There are different assemble algorithms used in the OBS edge node such as FAP, FBL, MBMAP and AAP. The influence of OBS simulation system to traffic flow is figured out. Also compromise between the assemble time threshold and the assemble length threshold is suggested to maximize this kind of influence.Second, we also realize that the traffic flow has influence on the performance of OBS system. Different performance parameters of OBS are presented, which are burst lost rate, length of BHP cache, lowest service rate and the end to end delay in OBS system. After comparing the simulation results of different assemble algorithms, several requests have been put forwarded to the design of the OBS edge node router and the core node router.At last, combining the analysis of performance parameters about OBS, an implement method for the hardware evaluation system of OBS is introduced, which is...
