With the high speed development of Internet and multimedia network technology, internet application as the network multi-media technology of core becomes one of the key techniques. The traditional image processing technology mainly concentrates in the image to obtain, transformation, strengthen,, compress coding etc , and along with new tool, the new method appears continuously, these picture processing technology also develops continuously. In image processing field, high speed and extremely high speed image processing technology becomes an important method to solve many applications of scientific research and engineering fields.The contradiction between the finiteness of single computer's technology development and the infiniteness of requirement for science computing determines that multi-computers' parallel will be the development of computer. This also leads to that parallel computing will be the main computing method in the future, and the development of parallel processing technology will be the main power to impel the constructing of national defense and the development of national science and technology. Accordingly, the increasingly demanding for science computing is also the main power to impel the flourish development of parallel processing technology in those twenty years. The parallel computing environment based on message passing is a widely used program paradigm on the parallel computers. Message passing can be realized efficiently and portable in various applications. Express, P4, PVM, and MPI are the environments of message passing used generally at present. Among them, MPI (Message Passing Interface) is the most important program paradigm. It has many advantages, such as portable, powerful and high efficient.This paper makes parallel algorithms and applications as its object of researching. It summarizes the basic conceptions of image compress processing, parallel processing technique and parallel algorithm briefly. Then it emphasizes on the network parallel computing environment and LogP Model of parallel computation.This paper describes the methods of developing parallel algorithm and applications through the designing, analyzing, optimizing, and implementing of digital image processing parallel algorithm, include FFT algorithm,wavelet transform,medium filtering,binary image algorithm etc.
