With the development of computer technology, communication technology and the in-depth application of the Internet, embedded systems are widely applied to various fields of scientific research and daily life due to their unique advantages. This paper developed a portable general data processing terminal using S3C2410 Microprocessor (ARM9 core) as the system CPU and Embest S3CEB2410 Evaluation Board as hardware platform. This system can realize the data receive of the static image, GPS receiver and velocity detecting sensors, and moreover after data processing, these data will be transferred to the controller and manager center via the GPRS operations of GSM system. First, starting with the basic concepts of the embedded system, operating mode and memory mode of ARM9 in comparison of ARM7 are introduced, and especially the S3C2410 Microprocessor from Samsung Electronics used in this paper is analysed in details. Next, we analysis the every parts of S3CEB2410 Evaluation Board and the building of embedded system software develop platform. After that software design is introduced as follows with the above basis: software design of serial interface, GPS software design of serial interface peripheral equipment, GPRS data transfer based software design, software design of USB interface and graphical interfaces Qt/Embedded.
