The pharmacovigilance and causality assessment are the key and the most difficult problems in the drug safety assessment, which influences the appropriate evaluation over medicines. The problem is one of the most worthy of being discussed problems. It would be most important for the standardization and rapidness of safety assessment that the underlying knowledge and mechanism are abstracted and understood from a great lot of adverse drug reactions by using the experts knowledge system and inference engine techniques.This study focused on the application of expert system of post-marketing drug safety assessment, and conducted the following research:1) Integrating ADR monitoring and causality analysis with expert systems, and proposing the new idea of using expert system technique in ADR monitoring;2) Calculating the ADR signal with Information Component by virtue of Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Network, which improves ADR screening and response, and achieves ADR monitoring and vigilance;3) Detecting the function relation by Gene Expression Programming to solve the problem without the quantitative relationship between the various factors which lead to ADR, which designs and achieves the application in the safety assessment based on GEP.4) Analyzing and designing the expert system of post-marketing drug safety assessment by object-oriented method.5) Realizing the module-expert system of post-marketing drug safety assessment by inference engine techniques; The experiments show that the module can work effectively in pharmacovigilance and quantitative causality assessment of post-marketing drugs.
