Following the high speed development in these areas of electron-war, satellite communications and personal mobile communications, it is more and more important to the role of filter acting as the key apparatus of Radio Frequency, and it is more and more high to the requirement for Radio Frequency. Such as the applications of the portable satellite receivers and the handling personal communication equipments limit strictly the size of filter. Actually micromation is a significant problem. It is not a problem while all the portable equipments reducing the size and decreasing the weight. Notwithstanding, it indicates the possible for the micromation on the Active Circuit of Radio Frequency while Monithitic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) coming forth. Such as Amplifier, Modulator , Frequency Converter and so on. However, reducing the size and improving the performance on the Active Circuit including Resonator, such as Radio Frequency (RF) and Oscillator, which are till two significant problems. And in these ways of Active Circuit theory, material, arts and crafts and accurate design, it is more possible to initiate a new foreland.The Resonator configuration with the transmission lines which has stepped impedance structure (SIR) is simple. On keeping the Unloaded-Q situation, we can shorten largely the Resonator length. Range from Radio Frequency to millimeter wave, SIR which acts as the basic resonator is no only applied all kinds of Radio Frequency but is applied Oscillator and Mixer.The purpose of the article researches on the characteristic on Stepped Impedance Resonator (SIR) and sums up the Radio Frequency design method adopting SIR. The main jobs in the paper generalized followed on:1 Analyze the synthetical procedure of passive network, including Generalized Chebyshev synthesis.2 Introduces the basic structure and characteristic of SIR, concretely including λ_g/4 model, λ_g /2 model and λ_g model.3 Generalizes the Filter design method with SIR structure adopting λ_g/4 model, and presents a Coaxial SIR Filter with Tapped Line.4 Base on the SIR adopting λ_g/4 model, we will introduce the SIR characteristic adopting λ_g/2 model and the design for min-pass-band filter which are made up of inter-coupling annular resonator acting as basic cell.
