With the emergence of technologies and standards supporting the development of Web Services, more and more Services are becoming available on the Internet. But almost all of them are individuals and simple functional units. Composing existing Services into new functionality becomes very essential for enterprises. To solve the lack of efficient discovery mechanism for Web Services, a Semantic Web technology based Web Services discovery approach is proposed. The foundation of this approach is the Web services related Ontology.This dissertation focuses on the Semantic Web Services composition and aims to develop a technology which can automatically and flexibly compose various existing Services to fulfill users'tasks according to their requirements, thus realize so-called Service on Demand.The main points of this dissertation are described as follows: adding semantic description on the Web Services through extending WSDL; proposing the composability model for Semantic Web Services; giving a matchmaking algorithm and describing a Semantic Web Service composition architecture.
