The ground penetrating radar (GPR) is an effective tool to detect buried targets based on the dielectric discontinuity, which possesses a lot of virtue, such as rapid and continuous surveying, simple and convenient operation, high resolution, nondestructive detection etc. This dissertation studied shallow depth signal processing technology of GPR and focused on the clutter reduction and targets imaging. Shallow depth refers to the targets'depth within 0.5m. The clutter and ground surface reflection is severe due to the complex environment and other factors on this depth of ground, so the targets signal will be impact without processing. Presently, the study of targets imaging focuses on 2D imaging and the main objective is to enhance the azimuth resolution via synthetic aperture imaging method. A method to give the 3D targets image based on mixed programming of Matlab and Visual C++ has been proposed and, the data acquisition and processing software has been improved and perfected also. The contents and innovations of this dissertation are as follows:1. Studied the cluster and background reduction algorithm and, proposed an enhanced adaptive step average method based on the amplitude of A-scan signal;2. Improved the GPR data acquisition and processing software, some utilities have been added such as position wheel control program, data format translation etc.;3. Implemented 3D targets imaging using mixed programming of Matlab and Visual C++;4. Participated in the outfield experiments.
