Phase shifter is a key component of phased-array radar. Its performance has direct effects to phased-array radar system. In this thesis, the research of millimeter 4-bit digital phase shifter is presented.First, this paper dissertates the importance of millimeter digital phase shifter. Digital phase shifter is the necessary key of phased-array radar, which has small volume, light weight, high accuracy test, quick reaction and other advantages. It becomes the mainstream in the present-day development of radar. Manufacturing a phase shifter of high performance, low cost plays a very important role to the development of phased-array radar.HMIC(Hybride Microwave Integrated Circuit) technology is used in the design of phase shifter in this paper. It needs high technology and cost for MCM and MMIC.So HMIC has many superior advantages.It is very convenient to produce and debug. While the cost is cut down and it is more reliable. The research of this paper is much practical.This dissertation discusses the work principles of several digital phase shifters respectively, and describes their characteristics. Based on this, the milimeter 4-bit digital phase shifter is designed by using different circuit format with 71Ωmain line microstrip , incorporating the guideline and the level of process.Finally, it takes a detailed test to the processed millimeter 4-bit digital phase shifter. The test result is better than expectant guideline: The maximum of the phase error is 10°,the insertion loss is better than 10.74dB, the return loss is more than -14.88dB in the 33.9GHz~34.5GHz frequency band. The whole volume of the phase shifter is 80mm×35mm×20mm.
