Legacy system reengineering has already been a very important branch of software engineering. A mature system becomes degenerate when time goes by. Some of them can be replaced with brand new system, otherwise a part of them are very difficult to be replaced. Such systems are usually rich of business logic. This part of system becomes legacy system. Legacy system reengineering is a successful way to resolve the problem of legacy system. My thesis expatiates on a legacy system reengineering. The system to be reengineered is Lattice System, which is an electronic equity trading system. It is a legacy system with normal characters of financial trading system. This system was developed long time ago, and it was very unstable, could not satisfy the increasing business demand. Our EQC(Equity Connect) team integrated the common software reengineering models and the characters of EQC system, raised the "evolutional model for legacy system reengineering" and reengineered the system. Rebuild and complete this system. Currently, the new EQC system is competent for the equity trading business which is becoming more and more complex. There are a series of work to complete and upgrade the system later for providing larger space for the equity trading business. The reengineering work is very successful till now. In the chapters below, the first chapter introduces the financial background of EQC system;the second chapter introduces the characters of the previous EQC system as a legacy system, and provide the "evolutional model for legacy system reengineering" basing on the existing software reengineering models; The third chapter introduces the 64-bit porting process of the system and problems met with the solutions; The fourth chapter introduces the function expanding and the rebuilding and maintaining of the low level library;the fifth chapter concludes the reengineering of the EQC and introduces the future expectation of EQC.
