Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a suitable digital modulation technique for broadband systems. One of the first commercial systems utilizing OFDM was ADSL (asymmetrical digital subscriber line), a standard for high data-rate communication over twisted-pair wires. With DAB (digital audio broadcast) OFDM was used for the first time for wireless transmission. The decision to use OFDM for the digital video broadcasting standard DVB-T followed at the beginnings of the nineties. This system is a good example for a state-of-the-art broadband wireless system operating in up to 8MHz wide transmission channel.This paper mainly discusses channel estimation and Doppler elimination for DVB-T system in wireless mobile environments after describing the principle of OFDM and its applications in the DVB-T system. By simulation and comparison a low-complexity adaptive estimator and ICI elimination are presented for DVB-T system. The whole receiver system based on FPGA has been successfully linked and debugged. It demonstrates the rationality and robustness of the designation.The structure of this paper is arranged as follows:Chapter one introduces digit television and Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC).Chapter two describes the fundamental theory of OFDM and the scheme of DVB-T in detail.Chapter three introduces some channel estimation algorithms based on interpolation in DVB-T receiver. Four estimators are compared, in terms of bit error both in Ricean (P1) channel and Typical Urban (TU) channel. Then a low-complexity adaptive estimator and its hardware-implement scheme are presented for DVB-T system.Chapter four analyzes the ICI of the OFDM system in mobile channel and presented an efficient ICI mitigation method with its hardware-implement scheme.Chapter five is brief summary and expectation of this paper.
