Fractal Analysis Based On Gis Spatial Component Development

GIS (Geography Information Systems) is a tool that express, simulate real spatial world and process, analyze spatial data. After 21 century, it is requested that GIS not only has the function of managing geography information and graphics processing, but also can resolve the problems of complex space analyzing, space simulating and space decision-making. The experts consider that the solution depend on the combination of research about space analyzing model and GIS.Geography fractal research, whether measuring fractal dimension or simulating fractal structure, is a rule and fussy process. Therefore, geography fractal research must recur to geography information technique. Geography information technique exist many fractal structure due to the characteristic itself, therefore, researching geography information technique by fractal theory has important potential and value.At present, there are many professional space-analyzing software tools, but these software run short of support of GIS, has some limitation. Recently, some GIS company begin to think much for development of space analyzing module, but lack the function of fractal analysis. Based on the GIS software, developing space fractal analysis module has broad apply foreground and practical value.This article is about researching for method of developing analysis module software can embed GIS; analyzing method of calculating fractal-dimension by box-counting; developing space fractal-analyzing component, embedded present space analyzing GIS, adding analysis function of system, resolving practical problems in geography space analysis, enhancing the depth of GIS application, can calculate the fractal dimension of region object space distributing (dot, line, side), research the fractal characteristic of geography objects.This software is developed by using MapObject2.0 component of ESRI Company and Active Bar 2.0 control of Data Dynamics Company in Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0(VB) environment, based on COM standard. Corresponding class realizes function module, interfaces of module software consist of dialog boxes for user, information showing boxes and prompts of error information etc. Finally, builds a self-registering file with setup application.Using this software processes some elementary researches about rivers fractal characteristic.
