Technology Research, Based On The Level Set Method Of Image Segmentation

In this paper, image segmentation was realized by level set function for tracking image boundary implicitly. First, the numerical method of level set was studied, such as the global method. Secondly, a variational problem and the corresponding Euler-Lagrange equation are obtained. A new numerical method, which is fast convergent, for the Euler-Lagrange equation was given. Several examples of image segmentation had implemented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method, and satisfactory results were obtained.It is shown that the level set method is numerically stable, oscillation-free and can deal with the topological changes. The level set method overcomes the shortcomings, such as the sensitivity to the initial position, the difficulty of segmentation to the complex construction etc., of other methods.
