In recent years, secure and reliable group communication is an increasingly active research area by growing popularity in group-oriented and collaborative application. One of the important challenges is to design secure and efficient group key management. The difficulty of this problem is due to group dynamics.Yongdea Kim et al. previously proposed STR protocol in paper [1]. In this paper, we extend the STR protocol by blending Pairing-based cryptography with key trees. It yields a secure protocol suite that is both simple and fault-tolerant. Furthermore, we discuss and analyze the new protocol suite's communication and computational cost and prove its security against hostile eavesdropper as well as various other attacks specific to group settings.
