This paper deals with the robust control strategy for the vibration of the cantilever beam system structure from control theory and experiment .The research project entitled "Identification and control of flexible structure", was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Firstly, based on nominal model of the cantilever beam, the uncertain cantilever beam system model is developed. Then, the output feedback control of cantilever beam with disturbance rejection is presented. Furthermore, multi-objective state feedback control and state feedback control with time-delay are developed. By using the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs ), an approach to controller design is presented. The simulation of the controller design and actual cantilever beam system debugging are put forward to prove the effective of controller design. Finally, the prospect of cantilever beam system vibration control and some issues which should be solved are pointed out in this paper.
