Virtual human aims to the simulation structure and function of human body with computer. Some groups of human data have been acquired in our country,and wide ranges of analysis and application on them have been in progress.3D reconstruction from images for virtual human is a hot subject. It is a multi-disciplinary subject. It is an important application of computer graphics and image processing in biomedicine engineering. It relates to the subjects of digital image processing, computer graphics and some related knowledge of medical. It can be widely used in diagnostic, surgery planning and simulating, plastic and artificial limb surgery, radiotherapy planning, and teaching in anatomy. Study on 3D reconstruction has important significance on science and worthiness in practical application. In this dissertation, key techniques for 3D reconstructing from images are studied, and a 3D reconstruction system used for virtual human is developed. The main research contents of 3D surface reconstruction from images for virtual human include image pre-processing, such as shrink and filtering, segmenting and extracting tissues or organs of body, constructing 3D surface models. In this study, some general methods for virtual human surface construction are summarized, while some method used in the manifold VHP data progressing,and several 3D models are obtained based on VHP data。In the end, we discuss advantage and disadvantage of reconstruction methods, and give some advices for virtual human image progressing. Objective: 1.3D reconstruction based on VHP data. 2.Verify a new 3D reconstruction method. 3.develope a 3D reconstruction system for experimentation. Methods: 1.Many methods are used to deal with VHP 2D image, including image transform, filtering and segmentation. 2.3D surface reconstruction. Contour tracking, Marching Cubes and a new method are used to rebuild VHP color image data.
