This paper introduced the background, technology and application ofInformation Extraction, and analysed the system architecture, the keytechnology, the taxonomy and weighing measurement of InformationExtraction. This paper also introduced the basic knowledge of ontologyand regular expression and presented an approach to extract informationbased on an application ontology that described a domain of interest andregular expression that defined extraction rule.In our approach wecombined the Information Extraction with ontology and regular expression.We firstly used the concepts, relations and keywords of domain ontology togenerate Information Extraction matching patterns automatically andthen did grammar parsing on the text. After that we used the result ofgrammar parsing and Information Extraction rule predefined to doinformation extraction on text and at last got the results as a list of recordsfor query.According to the approach and engineering practice environment, wedesigned an Ontology based Stock Information Extracton System and wrotesome codes to implement the system.We introduced the main structureand the designing method of main modules in detail. Because we used theregular expression to extract information, we focused on introducingregular expression and rule definition, introduced the grammar of regularexpression, definition of rule and the arithmetic of generating extractionrule automatically.At last, we proposed a method to implement the system whichincluded data schema, flow chart etc. and analysed the extraction result ofthe system.
