As one of the biometrics with exciting future, the Automatic Fingerprint Identi-fication System (AFIS) received attention and researching widely and heavily. Many applicant products have been in use. However, it is far from the time when every trouble would be resolved. It is very difficult to design an algorithm with high matching precision, especially to low quality fingerprint. Much researching achievement on the AFIS has been presented in this paper. For example, a Orientation Graph Algorithm Based on Isotropy Sobel Operator, a Orientation Filtering Enhancement Algorithm Base on Space Sampling and Interposing, a Thinning Algorithm Based on Four Orientation Scanning, a Improved Multi Judging Conditions Matching Algorithm Based on Global and Local Structure Feature and a Singular Points Detection Algorithm Based on Maxim Entropy of Orientation Variation . Based on all of above, an experimental version AFIS based on VC and ORACLE flat has been developed. All of these works provide good founda-tion for developing online AFIS and embedded AFIS in the future.
