In this thesis, we first briefly retrospect the development and background of previous PC-based HIP (Hemispherical Image Processing System) and then discussed the characteristics and disadvantages of PC-based HIP. To avoid these disadvantages, we presented an embedded HIP and explore its ascendancy over PC-based HIP.We performed a series of calculation and processing based on the BF533 embedded DSP system, in which the main work is radial and tangential linearization, to stretch annular image from PAL (Panoramic Annular Lens) into a quadrate one which is more convenient for man's observation.On the embedded system, a function which captures a picture frame from standard ITU656 video stream, a port of linearization algorithm and a video-out function are developed. Based on the above work we designed our video signal processing software framework.Utilizing the BF533 PPI interface, we also designed a high-resolution image daughter card based on the OV2610 CMOS 2 mega pixel image sensor.
