In the modern society, with the development of the TV technology in the digital and the multimedia way, the virtual studio technology is the focus in 21 century. As the key in the virtual studio, the matting technology in video will be a good future.In this paper the author firstly introduces the virtual studio and emphatically discusses the theory of the blue matting technology and the professional conditions that it needs. Then the author researches how to extract object in simple color background and nature background in video in image manage way. In the simple color background condition a method of object extraction using improved Euclid Distance as measurement is presented. The author tests the method in several color spaces. The tests prove the method is available. In the nature background condition the author researches the a estimation arithmetic. Lots of tests prove that the results are higher quality than the ones using traditional image partition arithmetic. Finally combining image partition arithmetic and a estimation arithmetic the author presents an auto-matting method. The tests prove the method expands the blue matting technology and satisfies the broadcast level quality need.
