The distributed network control system for the movement platform in the microwave darkroom is discussed in this paper. The design and the configuration of the hardware system are briefly introduced, and the design and the implementation of the software system are particularly discussed.The whole software system is divided into three parts. The first part is the master control system, the second is the slave movement control system, and the third is the communication system between the master control system and the slave control system. Many important research achievements have been acquired through exploiting those parts of the software system as follows:(1) In terms of the master control system, it is in charge of administrating the whole system, exchanging data between the system and the user, and supervising the slave movement control system. To manage the multitasking harmoniously and concurrently is implemented through the perfect multi-thread technology. To support the sharing and expansion of the programme code is completed by the advanced object-oriented programming language (OOPL). To display the intuitionistic and facilitated interface is accomplished by the familiar window appearance and the reasonable segmentation technology. (2) In the terms of the slave movement control system, it is in charge of controlling the movement of the movement platform. The double closed loop theory is chosen as the control mode of the slave movement control system. To ensure the satisfactory precision and stability is completed by adjusting the PID parameters, which is carried out by the PLC.(3) In the terms of the communication system, to shorten the scanning time of the system and improve the real-time capability are implemented through the point to point network structure, which is supported by the concurrent multi-bus and the multiple serial communication card. The method of serial communication, which is asynchronous, based on the standard of RS-485, is adopted between the master control system and the slave. The serial communication groupware, which is supporting the multi-thread technology, is chosen to manage the operation on the serial port. The arithmetic for dealing with the data packet is designed to ensure the pick-up of the useful data. The design and the exploitation both in the software and in the hardware of the system are implemented successfully after accomplishing the software testing experiments and the debugging on the spot of the whole system. The effect of the application is satisfactory.
